Dr. Sandra Ahumada, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Sandra Ahumada is a bilingual and bicultural licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD, Tic disorders, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs; hair pulling, skin picking). As a native Spanish-speaker, Dr. Ahumada offers services in both English and Spanish. Dr. Ahumada works with children, adolescents, and adults, and can consult with caregivers when a child/adolescent is not ready to participate in individual therapy but support is needed.

Dr. Ahumada strives to be inviting and non-judgmental in her interactions with clients to encourage them to share about the contextual factors they consider particularly important to their mental health. Dr. Ahumada’s aim is to respond compassionately and create a therapeutic environment that facilitates openness and growth.

Dr. Ahumada applies an individualized approach to treatment, as she appreciates that each client is unique and will respond to different interventions. Dr. Ahumada has expertise in a number of research-based cognitive behavioral therapy interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). Dr. Ahumada works collaboratively with clients to find what works best for them.

Dr. Ahumada earned her doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
